Goa is one of India’s premier holiday destinations and is a state located in the western coast of the country’s mainland. Maharashtra and Karnataka are the two neighbouring states of it, and the remaining borders of the state is bounded by the vast Arabian sea. Meanwhile, an interesting thing to know about the airport is that, it is amongst the handful of airports in the country that has both commercial as well as defence airport operating from the same air strip. The airport is operated and controlled by the Indian Navy, and is near to the Vasco town. Good thing is that there are number of hotels in Goa that offer airport pick and drop services. Additionally, there are two major rail heads in the state, namely Margao and Vasco-da-Gama. These two rail heads are served by express as well as regular trains connecting the state to all parts of India.
Meanwhile, Goa has long been the premier holiday destination in the Indian tourism circuit. The cities and beaches of it are amongst the most tourist visited destinations in the country. Its close proximity to Mumbai and Pune is yet another reason for the high count of tourists in the state. Besides, the state is simply brimming with masses of tourist attractions. When in the state, don’t miss to visit the Naval Aviation Museum situated in Vasco town. It is the only museum of its kind in all over Asia, and is also one of just seven such museums in the world.
Also the St. Joseph’s high school at Arpora is yet another place to visit. It is the first English medium high school that was ever built in the state. In the old Goa, there exist a highly revered church called the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the 400 years plus old remains of St. Francis Xavier. The church is one of the most visited tourist spot in the state, and definitely worth visiting. Another church that is worth visiting, is the church of St. Catherine. It is also located in the Old Goa and is one of the most oldest churches in the world.
